Recycling Today for a Better Tomorrow: A Solano Garbage Company Philosophy

Today, more than ever, people understand the need to responsibly manage waste. For a growing percentage of the population, this means looking for more opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle. Recycling Used Cooking Oil, Motor Oil, Batteries, Paint and Antifreeze
The City of Fairfield / Suisun City and Unincorporated Solano County residents receive used motor oil collection as part of the curbside recycling program. A special container is required for used motor oil and will be provided upon request. Please call us at (707) 437-8900 for more information.

Drop off batteries, cooking and motor oil, paint and antifreeze at our BOPA facility. The maximum drop-off is 5 gallons of each product per month. A form of residential identification is required for all drop-offs.

Electronic Waste Recycling
Solano Recycles is happy to announce that as of May 1, 2009, we accept electronic waste from residents of Fairfield, Suisun City and Unincorporated Solano County. Electronic waste drop-off contact information:

It is strictly the responsibility of the customer to unload and deliver electronic waste to our facility. Our employees will not be responsible for assisting any customer with material beyond their physical capability to move it.

Electronic Waste Guidelines:

  • No more than 5 items per person per month.
  • Televisions cannot be more than 32 inches.
  • All batteries must be removed.

  • Televisions (no larger than 32 inches)

  • Computer towers (CPU's)
  • Laptops
  • Printers (regular desktop only)
  • Mice
  • Hard drives
  • Fax machines (regular desktop only)

  • Radios (no speakers)

Handicap/disabled persons with proper placard will be assisted upon request only.

Solano Recycles of Fairfield operates a buyback center at its Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Fairfield, California. This center helps local residents in Fairfield, Suisun City and Unincorporated Solano County to keep our community clean by accepting recyclables such as aluminum, glass and plastic. Solano Recycles also accepts drop-offs of electronic waste and household batteries at no charge.

CRV can be paid by count at the customers' request, however, the state of California places restrictions on being paid by count. If you request to be paid by count you can be paid for no more than 50 containers of each material type. If you have more than 50 containers of any one specific material, you will be required to either go to the end of the line and start a new transaction, or have the rest of your material weighed.

California Refund Value (CRV)
Size: less than 24 ounces is paid $0.05.
Size: over 24 ounces is paid $0.10.

Containers Requested By Count
Size: under 24 oz. at a value of $0.05.
Size: over 24 oz. at a value of $0.10.

Used Motor Oil
You can be paid per gallon for all used motor oil. (Price may vary.)

Household Hazardous Waste
The household hazardous waste program is held every second and fourth Saturday of the month by appointment only.

At your appointed day and time, please visit our facility located at 2901 Industrial Ct., Fairfield, CA and follow the orange and black signs to the household hazardous waste unloading area. Once there, you will wait while we unload your vehicle for you.

To schedule an appointment, please call (707) 437-8971 and leave a message including your name, address, phone number and the type of material you would like to drop off. We will return your call within two business days.

Restrictions
We will not accept containers larger than 5 gallons. The maximum allowable amount that is acceptable is 15-gallons or 125 pounds per trip.

Disposal of Residential Medical Waste
Needles cannot be disposed of in garbage carts. Needles must be placed in a clear rigid enclosed container with the lid taped closed and taken to a household hazardous waste event.

Customers that dispose of residential medical waste must follow these directions:

  • Remove any residual fluids
  • Bag and tie the tubing and other non-needle waste
  • Place the waste in the garbage cart
